New Chapter for SkeenaWild

A Note From Executive Director, Greg Knox
Dear Friends,
After eighteen years as Executive Director of SkeenaWild Conservation Trust, I am stepping into an exciting new role as the British Columbia Program Director for the Wild Salmon Center. While this marks a transition for me, it is important to share that SkeenaWild is in the strongest position it has ever been. Our team has an incredible depth of leadership, diverse skills, and deep-rooted relationships and connections within the Skeena region. I have absolute confidence in their ability to continue driving impactful conservation work and fostering meaningful partnerships across our communities.
I want to emphasize that I am not going away. This is the next step for SkeenaWild and our broader mission to defend wild salmon and their habitats. In my new role, I will help expand our work within Skeena and take on province-wide responsibilities to elevate wild fish conservation efforts across British Columbia. This includes bolstering strategic partnerships, securing stronger protections for key salmon watersheds, and influencing policy decisions that will benefit communities and ecosystems alike.
Reflecting on my time at SkeenaWild, I feel profoundly privileged to have worked in one of the planet’s most breathtaking and ecologically significant watersheds. The Skeena has shaped my life and my work in ways I will forever cherish. It has been an honour to collaborate with local communities, First Nations, dedicated conservation groups, and inspirational local leaders. This work has truly been the highlight of my career.
Looking ahead, I am excited to continue contributing to the Skeena’s future while broadening our collective impact across British Columbia. As I step into this new role, my commitment to SkeenaWild and the communities of the Skeena remains unwavering. I will work closely with our Board and staff to ensure a seamless leadership transition and long-term stability for the organization. Together, we will continue striving to protect wild salmon and the communities that depend on them.
Thank you for your trust, support, and shared passion for this vital work. The Skeena and its people will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this journey with all of you.
With gratitude,
Greg Knox
