Summer Series: 2025
The Latest Skeena & North Coast Fisheries Updates
What’s happening with Skeena salmon and steelhead
Kait Yehle, SkeenaWild’s Fisheries Director and Biologist, gives us a pre-season Skeena and North Coast fisheries forecast and an environmental conditions report of what we might expect in the coming months as salmon start to come home. We will continue to put out videos throughout the season with updated numbers.
Most of the information in the video is provided by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, First Nations fisheries programs throughout the Skeena Watershed, in particular Nisga’a fisheries, as well as Environment Canada, the provincial government and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
As always, with nature, things can change quickly; we encourage everybody to make sure if you’re going to go fishing to check the fishing regulations with DFO and the province to ensure you have the most up-to-date information.
