2025: What We Achieved Together
And what’s in store for 2026.
Your support makes it all happen. Together, we’re building a sustainable future in the Skeena where wild salmon continue to thrive, sustaining the people, cultures, livelihoods and the natural systems that depend on them. Thank you for being part of this journey. None of this would have been possible without you!

Our Achievements Are Your Achievements
In 2025, SkeenaWild, along with our many wonderful partners, advanced a bold vision for a thriving wild salmon economy in the Skeena Watershed through science, partnerships, advocacy, and education. This year, our work focused on getting more fish to our rivers. We pushed back against unsustainable Alaskan harvests, risky late sockeye openings here at home, and supported Indigenous selective fisheries that protect vulnerable species.
Our scientists studied newly emerging salmon habitats shaped by climate change. We stood up to defend the North Coast oil tanker moratorium against renewed oil pipeline threats. We deepened our work on estuary protection, land-use planning, and mining reform—including publishing a wake-up call report on the Red Chris mine and taking legal action over the KSM mine.
We also brought communities together through the 14th annual SkeenaWild Film and Photo Festival, reaching thousands more through over 60 classroom workshops, salmon eco-camps, and hands-on community events—helping connect our communities to the watershed and inspiring the next generation of salmon stewards. Together, our work is helping ensure salmon, steelhead, and Skeena communities can thrive for generations to come.
